Celebrating the creativity, talent and artistry of The Village at Rockville residents
Michelangelo was devoted to his greatest masterpiece, the design and construction of St. Peter’s basilica in Rome, from age 71 to 89. The great Spanish artist, Salvador Dalí, continued painting into his mid-80s. At The Village at Rockville, resident artists create their own masterpieces through myriad forms of artistic expression well into their 70s, 80s, 90s and beyond — demonstrating that the capacity for creative expression is both ageless and timeless.
To celebrate and showcase the creative talents of its residents, The Village at Rockville is hosting a Celebrating Creativity Art Show from Monday, October 30 through Saturday, November 4. One goal of the art show is to encourage older adults – regardless of age or capability – to explore their own path to creative expression. The Celebrating Creativity Art Show is free and open to members of the public between the hours of 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. in The Village at Rockville’s Lang Hall at 9701 Veirs Drive. A reception for visitors and guests will be held on Friday, November 3 from 5-7 p.m.
The Celebrating Creativity Art Show is re-envisioned from previous Inspire Your Heart with Art shows held at the community. Event organizers expect featured works ranging from paintings on canvas to photography, woodworks, stained glass, textile arts, finely worked needle arts, exhibits in mixed media and more. The artists may offer their original works for sale at their discretion.
