The Village at Rockville Announces Annual Health Symposium in Partnership with Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center

Free event to be held virtually February 25 from 8 a.m. to noon, offering three hours of CEU credits

The Village at Rockville–A National Lutheran Community is pleased to announce the Second Annual Health Symposium in partnership with Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center. In response to continuing concerns for health care workers during the pandemic, the event will be held virtually through Zoom. The free event offers three hours of CEU credits for social workers, case managers and other health care workers in Maryland.

As a leading provider for senior living and care options in Montgomery County, Maryland, The Village at Rockville has designed the Health Symposium to present content important to those working with older adults. The Village at Rockville’s Executive Director Kyle Hreben states, “The Village at Rockville values our partnership with Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center and other community partners that have come together to provide an educational opportunity for health care professionals. We believe providing educational opportunities is part of our social accountability as an organization and having thought leaders from around our area share their expertise is beneficial not only to our team, but also to those working across Montgomery County and the state of Maryland providing care to older adults.”

The featured keynote speaker is Mindi Cohen, DO. Dr. Cohen is a founding partner of Comprehensive Primary Care, a 12-location physician-owned primary care group. She also serves as medical director for The One Health Quality Alliance, a clinically-integrated network sponsored by Adventist HealthCare that includes over 1000 physician members. Her keynote presentation will discuss the pillars of healthy aging, what healthy aging looks like and how technology is being used to drive healthy aging.

In addition to the keynote presentation, attendees will have two breakout sessions, which a choice of two topics for each session. Topics include:

  • Continuity of care
  • Wellness strategies on dealing with trauma and building resilience through adversity
  • Diversity and cultural training
  • Maintaining privacy and quality of care in virtual settings
